This can be a virus or other malicious software. We remove viruses and malicious software.

Save your important files while the laptop still works
Copy documents and photos to a USB drive or to the cloud. A slow laptop can be an early sign of a failing drive.
Don't install speed-up programs from ads
Some of them slow the computer down themselves or show fake warnings.
Don't reset the laptop to factory settings without a copy
A factory reset can erase all the files on the drive.

Questions about a slow laptop
Why has my laptop suddenly become slow?
It can be any of the causes above, and there can be more than one. If it slowed down after a fall, after a new program or when it started running hot, tell us when you call.
Is a virus making my laptop slow?
It can be, but it doesn't have to be. The drive, too little memory or overheating can show the same signs. That's why we check the laptop first, and then tell you what needs doing.
Can an old laptop be made faster?
It depends on the cause and on the laptop itself. After the check we tell you what can be done and what it costs. If the repair isn't worth the cost, we tell you before we start, and the decision is yours.
Will I lose my data?
Tell us when you call what needs to be kept. When fitting an SSD we can move your existing system to the new drive, and we also do data transfer and backups.
